Recycling Your Metal

Scrap Metal is broken down into two major categories: Ferrous and Non-Ferrous

  1. Ferrous Metal
    • If a magnet sticks to it, its ferrous. This includes iron, steel, white goods and vehicles.
    • In our facility, this is weighed by the ton on our 80 ft scale which is located in our yard.
  2. Non-Ferrous Metal
    • This is metal that is not magnetic. Aluminum, copper, brass, stainless steel, and acid filled batteries all fall under this category.

Feel free to call our office for any inquiries about the pricing of your metal goods.

Recycling your ferrous and non-ferrous metals has a long history, as it has been going on for over 150 years. Recycling is an inexpensive and green alternative to mining iron ore. By recycling 1 ton of steel, 1.1 ton of iron ore is saved, along with 630kg of coal and 55kg of limestone. Steel does not lose any of its inherent properties when it is recycled, and because of this, has dramatically reduced the energy and the material necessary to manufacture goods. It is estimated that enough energy is saved to power eighteen million homes annually by recycling instead of mining iron ore.

You can do your part in reducing the amount of energy required by recycling your metal goods.
